1995 42′ Carriacou racing sloop rebuilt 2010

Carriacou regatta

SUMMER CLOUD is a well known Carriacou sloop, traditionally hand built by Baldwin De Roche  in Petit Martinique in 1995 and extended to 42′ in 2010 when she was painstakingly rebuilt by Woodstock Boatbuilders in Antigua, to win races.

A number of regattas are held throughout the Eastern Caribbean each year for Carriacou sloops to race against each other, from Grenada up to St Barths including the prestigious Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta where they have their own class.

More than US$ 150,000 has been spent (at the boatbuilders cost) to restore this beautiful sloop and convert her into one of the fastest on the classic regatta circuit.

Replanked above the waterline with pitch pine and cedar planks with bronze fastenings. New floors, stringers, knees, and internal planking.

Sold with two rigs, one with wooden spars, the other aluminium, an aluminium boom, and a carbon bowsprit.

Fitted with both internal and extenal ballast to enable the boat to carry a taller rig.

The 3 cylinder Yanmar engine was removed for racing but is available to be rifitted should the new owner wish to convert the boat back to a cruising spec. There are two berths in the saloon and two further berths forward, with a compact removable galley.

Lying in Antigua and eligible for all the classic yacht events.

Listed at just  USD $ 75,000  a fraction of the cost of the recent rebuild
